Production of the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL began in June 1963 and continued through January 5, 1967. Introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, the W113 quickly established itself as one of Mercedes-Benz's most elegant and technically advanced sports cars. Affectionately known as the ""Pagoda"" due to its distinctive, patented concave removable hardtop, the W113 combined timeless styling with exceptional engineering. Every 230 SL was equipped with a fuel-injected inline six-cylinder engine, while the hood, trunk lid, and door skins were constructed from aluminum to reduce weight and enhance performance.
Most recently, this exceptional Pagoda has been enjoyed as a fair-weather touring car, spending much of its recent life on the North Shore of Long Island where it was used for leisurely weekend drives along scenic coastal roads. It has been serviced by Autosport Designs regardless of mileage to ensure it has remained in outstanding mechanical condition.
Although benefiting from an older restoration, this 230 SL continues to present beautifully today. The paint, chrome, brightwork, and interior all remain exceptionally well preserved, while the driving experience is exactly as one would expect from a properly sorted Pagoda.
